October 24, 2019 By Blake Goll

Join us for this open house featuring original oil paintings from Rushton Conservation Center artist-in-residence Genevieve Snyder, whose works explore the conserved open space and pastoral landscapes of Willistown Conservation Trust.

Genevieve will be painting on site at the Rushton Conservation Center during the open house and her works will also be for sale. Other showings by appointment, visit genevievefineart.com.

GENEVIEVE SNYDER was born and raised in Chester County, where she and her husband Eric still reside. From childhood, she has found joy in painting and drawing. She began her career in set design for television, but since 2005, she has focused exclusively on painting. Since that time her award-winning paintings have been on display at juried shows and invitationals, and her work
has been used for cards, posters, magazine covers and calendars, including most recently the 2020 Radnor Hunt calendar. Genevieve has long been a supporter of land conservation and has generously donated fifty-percent of the sales from her show at the Rushton Conservation Center to Willistown Conservation Trust.

Author’s Visit: Conservationist & Nature Photographer Tom Blagden

August 1, 2019 By Blake Goll

We’re sorry. This event is sold out!

Of all of the iconic conservation land in the United States, perhaps none is more evocative than the Grand Canyon, a Wonder of the World and the most-visited of the National Parks. We are thrilled to welcome renowned Conservationist and Nature Photographer Tom Blagden to speak about his newest book, The Grand Canyon: Unseen Beauty: Running the Colorado River, which brings the reader on a journey by boat through the mile-deep canyons and tumultuous passages of the mighty Colorado River.

TOM BLAGDEN has been a professional nature photographer for over forty years, with works appearing in national conservation publications, including cover shots for Smithsonian, Audubon, Outdoor Photography, Nature Conservancy, and Sierra. His work is devoted to land protection and conservation, with a concentration on the natural landscapes of South Carolina, Maine, Costa Rica, and the Grand Canyon. Join us to learn about his latest publication, The Grand Canyon: Unseen Beauty: Running the Colorado River, which brings the reader on a journey by boat through the mile-deep canyons of the mighty Colorado River and highlights the importance of conserving this national treasure.

Program starts promptly at 6:15 PM, followed by cocktails and refreshments. Copies of the book will be available for sale, and Tom has generously donated the profits from the evening’s book sales to Willistown Conservation Trust.

Stories Around the Campfire, with guest storyteller John Black

April 29, 2019 By Blake Goll

Help us welcome the warmer weather with a family evening outside. We will provide the beautiful farm at sunset, the campfire, and marshmallows for toasting. We will hear some Native American creation stories from John Black and we will then invite others to share their own campfire tales.

Come out and enjoy an evening of storytelling around the campfire with John. Storytelling is an ancient art and has been and continues to be a very important activity in all human cultures.  He has a large collection of stories, mainly from Native American folklore or “Why” stories. He also has several stories that he has written and many retelling of stories from his childhood. John attended a Master Storytellers workshop several years ago where he was able to hone the craft and learn from many wonderful storytellers. John has spent much of his adult life teaching and reconnecting people with nature and using storytelling in the process.

John lives in Browns Mills in a little purple house with his wife Christine and their 2 daughters. They share the house with Tsuki, the dog and Marcel the cat. They share the yard with a myriad of insects, spiders, birds, and many other creatures.
