Moth Party with Academy of Natural Sciences

Summer nights are full of wonderful creatures like bioluminescent fireflies and singing katydids. Explore the fascinating nocturnal insect world with entomologists from the Academy of Natural Sciences who will be surveying Rushton’s population of moths, beetles, flies, crickets, and more with mercury vapor lights set against white sheets.

This family friendly event will begin with an indoor lecture on insect populations and their conservation, followed by a night hike to various light trap stations around the Preserve. All ages welcome. Please wear sturdy footwear, protection from mosquitoes, and a hat or sunglasses to protect your eyes from the bright UV lights. Flashlights may come in handy as well.

Academy of Natural Science members get a $5 discount at checkout.
