Butter, Bread, and Cheese – oh my! | Workshop with Colonial PA Farmstead
We are excited to team up with our friends at the Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead and bring the joy of hearth cooking to the Rushton Conservation Center! Sarah Farnsworth, hearth cook with Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead, will travel through time (and from their Ridley Creek State Park location) to Rushton to lead a workshop for both cooks and foodies! Spend time with friends and like-minded individuals learning about those three daily essentials, bread, butter, and cheese, both modern and historic. We will be making several types of bread, fresh cheese, and butter as well as sampling some other homemade cheeses. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day. Please feel free to pack a lunch if you would like. Recipes and instructions will be provided to all attendees to take home and perfect at their homestead!
The Rushton Conservation Center has a modern kitchen, but Sarah will be able to speak to the colonial hearth cooking they demonstrate at the farmstead while leading attendees through a 21st-century preparation.
PARKING: Please park in the main parking area at the Rushton Conservation Center, 915 Delchester Road, Newtown Square PA.
ATTIRE: If the weather is nice, we will have the opportunity for a short walk through Rushton Farm and Rushton Woods Preserve. Please wear comfortable footwear and bring a coat for our time outdoors.
