Accounting Associate

TITLE: Accounting Associate

Hours: Part-Time, In-person (average 20 hours/week) with a flexible but routine schedule
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Willistown Conservation Trust (WCT) is seeking a part-time Accounting Associate to join a dynamic conservation organization in Newtown Square, PA. This individual will be the primary transactional accountant for the organization and will support the outsourced Director of Finance. This person should be able to interact with the general public, communicate effectively across the organization, and work independently and with initiative.

The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and will possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills. The ability to maintain a balance among multiple priorities is imperative. 

General Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Passion for working in a mission-driven organization.
  • The ability to keep schedules of tasks and complete tasks with regularity.
  • A commitment to quality work performed with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, a professional demeanor, the ability to handle multiple tasks with organization and accuracy.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including Quick Books both online and desktop, ADP Run, Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Maintain a professional level of privacy and security of confidential information as necessary
  • Access to transportation and the ability to move among multiple locations.

Specific Duties:

  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Process all vendor bills by check or on-line including SIMPLE IRA contributions. 
  • Enter deposits for all sources of revenue using appropriate non-profit GAAP revenue recognition standards. 
  • Maintain P&L’s for approx 15 classes (programs, grants, fundraisers)
  • Process bi-weekly Payroll using ADP Run and record payroll and all withholding on the books appropriately.  Maintain proper employment files. 
  • Book Journal entries as required including credit card transactions
  • Monitor cash position and manage multiple bank accounts
  • Maintain a checklist of monthly and quarterly close procedures
  • Maintain internal control compliance and authorization processes
  • Keep complete and organized paper/electronic files and manage contracts
  • Provide support for financial and insurance audits and 990 filing
  • Track vacation and certain other HR policies 
  • Second entity accounting bookkeeping
