ABOUT OUR PARTNERS

Indian Run Environmental Center promotes knowledge and stewardship of Pennsylvania wildlife and its ecosystems through traveling educational programs that include live animals, all of which are native to the United States. Visuals, activities and many bio facts such as feathers, furs and skulls are also utilized in our fun and educational presentations and exhibits.

Pitruco Pizza is a brick oven pizza place specializing in 12” Neapolitan style personal-sized pizzas made from scratch to order. Pitruco’s commitment to supporting local and sustainable food pathways begins with our dough, which is made in part from freshly milled flour from PA-grown grains (Castle Valley Milling, milled by Lost Bread Co.).  The bulk of our cheese comes from Lioni Laticini in New Jersey, and our milk and eggs come from NJ farms.  (We also use Jersey-grown tomatoes as often as we can.)   And we love to use local cheeses–some of our favorites come from The Farm at Doe Run (PA), Yellow Springs (PA), and Cherry Grove (NJ).  We also source our produce from local farms, particularly spring-fall.  We have worked with Urban Roots (PA), Kneehigh Farm (PA), Taproot Farm (PA), and Green Meadow (PA), among many others.  Our meat products come from Salumeria Biellese (NY) or are made in house from pork from Country Time Farm (PA).  Based in University City, we are bringing Pitruco’s pizza truck to Willistown for pizza night.

Deer Creek Malthouse started making malt because they are passionate about agriculture and craft beer and believe there was something inherently wrong with the regional grain/malt supply chain. Although millions of pounds of malt were being consumed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for craft beer alone, this essential ingredient was being treated as a commodity and sourced exclusively from outside the region. Pennsylvania has a rich history of farming and brewing, and there was a clear disconnect in the local food system.

And so it was that Pennsylvania Craft Malt was born: High quality, flavorful, malt ingredients handcrafted using locally grown grain. Founded in 2012, Deer Creek Malthouse is committed to creating more sustainable malting infrastructure in Pennsylvania by adding value to grain for regional food and beverage artisans. They believe that truly amazing things can happen when you shorten the supply chain!
